When in Parma...

Friends...check out and vote on the new survey to the right...

Parma is known for great cheese and ham....it also loves to share those with guests. We experienced that first hand today!

Having the opportunity to visit a working farm that produces biologic (organic) parmagianno reggiano by providentially tagging on to a group of American cyclists was pretty amazing. Organic cheese makes up only 2% of the 3 million wheels of cheese produced each year.

However, having the owner, an Italian grandma, invite us to stay after the 30 cyclists left, and then spent 2 more hours with us using Peggy as our translator, feeding us extremely well aged Parmeggiano, prosciutto and gelato, and showing us her 5 star cow facility (dairy) was sublime!  The last picture even shows a cow getting her massage from a yellow auto massage machine..like I said, 5 stars!

This was one of those unexpected afternoon treats one loves to have, can't be planned, that only the Lord can make happen. Also, the other great joy was the owner's look, speaking style, inner sparkle and warm friendliness reminded me so much of Peggy's mom Fran...those who knew Fran can confirm this by looking at the photos.
